combination of glass fiber roving and polymer resin)
STROD GFRP COMPOSITE
STROD is glass fiber reinforced polymer composite material (GFRP).
Composite reinforcements are available for structural purposes and can be both preferred for temporary and permanent structures depending on Project needs.
STROD has 2-3 times higher tensile strength values compared to conventional steel materials. Besides it is lighter and easier to handle.
Additionally other composite products have high tensile strength values and provide ease of application.
8 GREAT Reasons to use STROD GFRP
Non-corrosive. Longer service life
High tensile Strength
Economical than steel
Easier to handle and apply
Environmental effect is lower than steel
Lighter
Non-conductive
Storage and transportation is easier and cheaper
STROD GFRP has 2-3 times higher tensile strength than steel. Tensile strength values are over 900 MPa and resistant to acid- alkali reactions.
(Strength values are tested in accordance with TS-13816 and TS EN ISO 10406-1 standards)
STROD GFRP is not effected from environmental conditions. Thanks to corrosion resistance it has much longer life time than steel reinforcements. It is resistant to salty environemntal conditions, chemical factors and freeze thaw effects.
Specific gravity of GFRP is between 1,8-2,4 gr/cm3, which is 3-4 times lighter than steel.
Thanks to lightweight of STROD, ease of application is provided in addition to reducing reinforcement loads to the structures.
HOW IS IT MANUFACTURED
- GFRP composite products can be manufactured by pultrusion, extrusion, hand laying and filament bending methods.
- Pultrusion method is based on washing infinite glass fibers to polymer resin, which is prepared with the formula according to desired performance of product. Fibers, washed with resin passes through special design molds and carries on for setting inside heating units.
- After heating process, products are cut with automatic cutting unit according to design lengths.
- For different geometrical shapes, resin coated glass fibers are placed in special designed molds for settng inside an additional owen.
